Key Responsibilities
- Select tasks from a validated collection of Go repositories pinned to specific Git commits.
- Explore unfamiliar repositories and understand the relevant subsystem.
- Investigate pull requests, issues, and repository history when necessary.
- Rewrite engineering questions to challenge advanced coding agents while keeping them well-defined and fair.
- Develop and refine positive and negative evaluation rubrics.
- Create foils that distinguish accurate reasoning from plausible but incorrect answers.
- Run the complete validation process in Mercor Studio.
- Use the Check, Golden, Run, and Analyze stages to validate tasks.
- Iterate on tasks until all validation stages are successful.
- Document task details and findings in the task README.
- Respond to expert feedback and revise tasks when required.
Requirements

- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Significant production experience with Go.
- Ability to navigate and understand large, unfamiliar Go codebases.
- Ability to explain how software behaves at runtime rather than relying only on source-code interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of Go concurrency, interfaces, module boundaries, and the standard library.
- Comfortable reading generated code and build tooling.
- Strong written English and technical communication skills.
- Experience using Git at the commit level.
- Comfortable working with containerized environments and command-line tools.
- Ability to work independently in an asynchronous environment.
Experience with distributed systems, networking, storage engines, or Kubernetes-related tooling is especially relevant.
